Privacy Policy for Apps with No Backend

A majority of our apps are designed to run stand-alone on the client machine. If there are any API calls involved the data is sent to the API and the result returned to the client. In most of these cases the API key belongs to the user so we have no access to any data stored on the servers. We will have a second Privacy Policy in place for situations where we have backend server support for our apps.

# Privacy Policy

**Effective date:** July 13, 2026

This policy applies to all apps published by slapfrog labs, operated by Stephen Davis (“we”, “us”), across all platforms โ€” **macOS, iOS, Android, Windows, and Linux** โ€” unless a specific app’s store listing links to a different, app-specific policy.

## Short version

**We don’t collect anything. slapfrog labs apps have no backend servers, no analytics, and no tracking, on any platform. Everything an app stores lives locally on your device. The only time your data ever leaves your device is when an app explicitly connects to a third-party service on your behalf (for example, an AI provider using your own API key) โ€” and that traffic goes straight from your device to that third party, never through us.

## What data our apps store, and where

Any data our apps stores โ€” such as your content, settings, configurations, or credentials you enter โ€” is kept **only** in a local database or local storage on your own device. It is never uploaded to slapfrog labs , because we operate no backend servers to receive it.

Uninstalling an app, or clearing its data, permanently deletes everything the app stored. We have no copy of it anywhere, because we never had one.

## Third-party services

Some apps let you connect to third-party services of your choice โ€” for example, AI providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic (Claude), or Google (Gemini), or a self-hosted service such as Ollama. When you use a feature that talks to one of these services:

– Your data is sent directly from your device to that third party’s API, using the credentials or endpoint you configured.

– This connection uses standard HTTPS/TLS encryption.

– We do not see, intercept, log, or store any part of this traffic โ€” it does not pass through any server we control.

– Each third party handles the data you send them under their own privacy policy. We encourage you to review the policy of whichever service(s) you choose to use.

If you point an app at a self-hosted service (e.g. your own Ollama instance on your local network), your data goes only to the address you configure and never touches any other third party.

## Device permissions

Our apps may request device permissions such as camera, photo library, location, file/folder access, or local network access. Each permission is used only to perform the specific action you request within the app, never in the background, and never for tracking.

## No analytics, no tracking, no advertising

slapfrog labs apps do not include analytics SDKs, crash-reporting services, advertising identifiers, or third-party trackers of any kind, on any platform. We do not know how you use our apps, and we don’t want to.

## Children’s privacy

slapfrog labs apps are not directed at children under 13, and do not knowingly collect any data from anyone, regardless of age โ€” because they do not collect data at all.

## Security

Communication with any third-party service uses industry-standard HTTPS/TLS encryption. Your data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to slapfrog labs.

## Future apps with server components

If we ever ship an app that requires custom server-side infrastructure (for example, cloud sync or a hosted backend), that specific app will ship with its own dedicated privacy policy describing exactly what that server does and does not collect. This general policy applies only to apps that have no such backend.

## Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, an updated version will be posted at the same URL with a new effective date.
